People in the Riehl World "It's not what you know, but who you know." Here are some of the people that helped to define me by being a part of my life in some way. To find out where I come from you will first have to meet my family. I moved down to Orlando in August of 1997 and started meeting new people. I decided to give them a page: Florida Friends If you want the scoop on what I was like growing up you will find no better source than Erin Simmons [photo] [website]. She lived across the street from me and we've been the closest of friends since day one. I don't remember exactly when "day one" was but I couldn't have been more than three when we met. She lives in New Paltz now but some day I am sure I'll be visiting her in Rhode Island or Ireland. I met Anne Poltorak [photo] during the first month of my Freshman year at RPI . Her name was Anne Ng at the time and she was starting a Circle K club. I jumped right in with both feet and that has made all the difference. The impact Anne has had on my life unbelievable if you consider that she is directly responsible for my involvement in Circle K. In the two years we attended RPI together we became close friends. Anne graduated with a Computer Science degree at the end of my Sophomore year. She went on to work for Lockheed Martin and earn her Master's Degree from RPI. She now lives in Pennsylvania and is married to Jon Poltorak. I had the honor of being an usher at their wedding. I am still getting used to her being Mrs. Poltorak. The first week of my Junior year I met Sara Schubert [photo] when she and some other first year students attended a Circle K social. We spent lots of time together right up until I graduated in May of 1997. I was sad to leave RPI and the Circle K club I helped to charter. Sara made me very proud by not only keeping the club going but raising it to new heights. The club lost one of its most dedicated members whe she graduated with her Biomedical Engineering degree. I had the fortune of meeting Jennifer Mount [photo] at a Catholic retreat at Camp Joy in November of 1998. She spends most of her time studying International Business at Rollins College with her sorority sisters. Sometimes she escapes to go swing dancing or to spend the day at the "Happiest Place on Earth". If you ever have a question about Disney World just ask the Mounts. I have been there with them more times than I recall. In the first month I knew Jenny I had been to all four theme parks, Downtown Disney and the Disney Boardwalk. To her chagrin, I have the photos to prove it. This section is far from complete. I doubt it ever will be. But, I will do my best to add to it when I get the chance. |
